What is POW.COM?

POW.COM is a self-directed public records search tool that gives you the power to research, learn, and discover important information about your world, especially the people in your life.

Can I search for persons outside the United States?

Not at this time. Currently POW.COM is limited to the US, but we hope to add more countries in the future.

Can I buy a gift subscription?

Sure! Email us at gifts@pow.com and we’ll be happy to help you coordinate a gift. POW.COM gift subscriptions are perfect for college students, researchers, or friends who are still dating or recently returned to the dating world.

Where can I apply for a job?

If you have exceptional design, coding, or customer service skills, shoot your resume over to us at jobs@pow.com.

I’m writing a media story. Who do I contact with questions or interview requests?

What’s the difference between a standard and a premium report?

Standard reports collect immediately useful information about the people in your life, such as contact information, past addresses, and possible relations. Premium reports draw form an even deeper pool of data sources and unlock information that is often hard to find even though it’s publicly available, such as criminal records, federal licenses, email addresses, and more.

Which subscription plan is best for me?

Think about the different reasons you might need to search for information about a person. If you have old friends with whom you want to reconnect, or if you have kids and want to learn who in your neighborhood might be a sex offender, then a lower tier plan might be best. If you’re recently divorced and have begun dating again, you might go with the higher tier so that you can always screen your prospective partners.

What is the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)?

The Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 (“FCRA”) is U.S. Federal Government legislation enacted to promote the accuracy, fairness, and privacy of consumer information contained in the files of consumer reporting agencies. It was intended to protect consumers from the willful and/or negligent inclusion of inaccurate information in their credit reports. To that end, the FCRA regulates the collection, dissemination, and use of consumer information, including consumer credit information. Therefore, any decisions you make that involve another person’s creditworthiness, and this includes leasing an apartment, hiring a new employee, issuing life insurance, and many others, must be done in a manner that is compliant with the FCRA.  You can read the entire text of the law here.

Is this information real?

Yes, to the best of our knowledge. But we can’t guarantee its accuracy or its currency. People move, they change jobs, sometimes inaccurate information gets posted and replicated many times, all of which effect the quality of the information that’s out there. But you’d still be surprised at how much great information we have available when you search on POW.COM.

Where do you get all of this data?

There are millions, even billions, of publicly available data points on the internet that come from myriad sources. State, County, and Federal agencies, courts, social media listings, third party providers, and many others provide the data that comprises our reports. POW.COM helps you sort through all the noise and find the information you need to know about the people in your life.

How do I cancel my subscription?

We’re sorry to see you go! You may cancel your subscription at any time with no hassle simply by clicking the Cancel Account link on your account page, or by emailing us at cancel@pow.com. Just include your full name, the email address you used to sign up for the account, and your account number. We will process your cancellation request within 3 to 5 business days.

Can I get a refund?

Yes you can! If you’re unsatisfied with your POW.COM experience we’ll happily refund your purchase with no questions asked. Send an email to refunds@pow.com to request your refund. Refunds may take up to 30 days to process.

Of course, we would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns, so give us a chance by contacting customercare@pow.com.

How do I remove my information from your site?

Please send us a written request addressed to POW.COM Opt-Out, 1100 Glendon Ave, Los Angeles, CA  90024. Or you may email us at optout@pow.com. Whether by physical mail or email, you must give us your FULL name (First, Middle, Last), your current address, email, and date of birth. We will do our very best to make sure your information is excluded from all future searches, but please understand that the constant creation of new data online may inadvertently cause some of your information to reappear. This is especially challenging if you have a common name.
